This is one of my beloved twinnies again...This time it is Laivan, the going to be evil twin. But for right now, he's just the sweet adorable little boy he was. He is about six years old here at his first dragon dance. He's more or less just slightly confused as to why the adults painted him up and gave him this wierd mask. Oh well, adults are wierd anyway. One of the things that I love about the Ookami is that although they are "advanced" for their world, they are still really primitive in some ways. Not to long ago relatively speaking, they were a tribal society and they havn't forgotten their roots. This is one of those traditions, where they hold a sort of pow-wow and dance and perform to honor the gods. Here Laivan is going to be one of the six heads of the god of Justice and Balance. He appears as a giant six headed dragon that represents all the aspects of the six gods and goddesses. Even the evil god. Laivan is representing justice and balance. I got the idea for this pic because I was drawing a pic of his sister dancing, and I was looking for some photo refs of poses, and I came across the picture of a little native american boy, all dressed up and kinda confused. I loved it, so I took the idea, but not the pose. Just the idea. I used photo references of Haida artwork to make up the dragon mask.
